I’d like to start off by thanking my fellow Variant, Berry, for providing the topic of today’s review. As part of the holiday celebrations, I received a sample of the Found Familiar Thieves’ Cant and Inspiration flavors. I’ve since tried both samples, and am very happy with the flavors.
Let us preface – I am an avid and daily coffee drinker, and have been for some time. I started as a young kid imitating my parents with a splash of coffee in my hot cocoa, but going into high school and particularly after going away to college I found I had ever expanding commitments and requirements that drained my energy levels throughout the day. So, I turned to the popular brown morning potion to help as part of my dawn ritual. I typically have a cup or two in the morning, to accompany breakfast and to start my work day. My most common blend is a Columbian medium roast. (Generic, I know, but I’m basic like that.)
The first flavor I tried was the Inspiration blend, and I was immediately drawn in when the notes included dark chocolate brownies. As stated before, I am a simple person, I see chocolate, I eat chocolate. This flavor was very close to my typical Columbian blend, as the beans are from Minas Gerais, Brazil. The roast had a full flavor, and stayed warm for a good amount of time. I could taste the notes of chocolate brownies mostly in the later parts of my sips, with a leading bold flavor before my coffee began to cool. Highly recommended for fans of heartier, near dark roasts, and I’ll brew it stronger in the future to get more of the flavor out of the blend.
